Everybody was Ninja Fighting!

Little Miss' birthday is coming up soon and she announced to me that she would like a "girl ninja" party.

So, I whipped these up with a cute little ribbon karate belt. We passed them all out to her little girlie friends at church. Everyone seemed to like them, so that was good since I know it made Little Miss happy.

Here's a sneak peek at our party favors.... can you guess what I'm makin'?

Atlas Sports a New DO!

Before: Scruffy McScraggly
Atlas is cool as a cucumber now! lol I shaved him....sort of. I was too cheap to take him somewhere, but I know it's going to come. Until then, I'm pretty handy with some clippers and some scissors.

After: Trim and Neat!
We also got him a tag since he's being belligerent and "pretending" not to hear me.

We're Havin' a Heat Wave!!!!

While cleaning out the mudroom to paint, I couldn't help but notice how WARM it was! Enjoy!
Junk from our mudroom...all on the SNOW-LESS PORCH!!!

Before....Miserable and Dreary. You all know my aversion to white.
After! There IS COLOR!!!! And we have a nice path! I forgot! What a nice surprise.

Before Pics and a Peep Show!!

So, I can not sit still apparently. I HAVE to be doing something, so I convinced Honey to work on another room. Here's our mudroom....before. It's like this light, pastel blue. Many a person may like it. Not me.Like my Honey says....We are BOLD people.

So.... Do you know what color we (we means "I") chose?

Here's a sneak peek....a peep show of sorts.

Stay tuned for more!

Scrap Map!

I stumbled across this blog, See Kate Sew, and she had this AWESOME tutorial on a scrap map. So, I said...."I WANT ONE!" So I started one. She turned her's into a wall hanging with it stretched across a board, but I think I want my to be a hanging quilt. Now I just need to finish the top and pin my layers together and quilt my little heart out! I think I want to do a bit of embroidery too!
Notice this material is BIGGER than the end result because I can't pin straight.
Look! It's Michigan!!
R-O-C-K in the USA!

Spring Comes....for the Moment.

Today was B-E-A-Utiful! Amazing weather....so amazing.. I even shaved my legs. I know! Amazing. I was resigned to do the dishes because we had accumulated quite the stack since Honey has been living at work recently. lol After a while, I realized I was starring at the wall. Bare space. I knew my Honey had mentioned that he wished there was a window there, but I didn't really think about it. So, I MADE a window of sorts.

What do you think? lol I like the polka dots myself! lol It's just pinned together...sort of a trial run to see what Honey thinks of it.

We also had some outside time...which I was fought tooth and nail, but of course I won. And? "Mom, we love being outside!" Uh huh. I know. You just forgot what sun was like. It's ok little snow babies. I will free you from your frozen cocoon and release the brilliant colored butterflies that you are. lol

Ah...even Atlas is out in the sun. Of course I had to chain him up too. Gosh. I hope they appreciate the sun more when they realize how little we have of it. I need to get Chickie out, but she was sleeping at the time.

Bambino Penguino!!

So I got the opportunity to help out another friend with her daughter's birthday party. This time, I was in charge of the cake. YEAH! I love decorating cakes. Soooooo fun!

Many people ask how I make my cakes....well, I will give you some secrets. Not really...but here's what I do.
Step 1: I ALWAYS use parchment paper on the bottom of any cake pan I use.
Step 2: I ALWAYS flour my pans. Spray some PAM or use some Crisco and flour the edges. This one was not as photogenic....lol
Step 3: I ALWAYS wait 10 minutes after pulling my cakes out of the oven before taking them out of the pans. You can also put a crumb coat on, which is a thin layer of icing then refrigerated so you don't get that dirty crumby mix in your nice frosting job.
See how well it comes out?

Now, the party was deemed a Penguin party. So, without further ado, the penguin cake!! Inspiration came from this month's Family Fun magazine.

I know this is blurry, but it was hilarious. That's Little Miss reading the Ensign - our church magazine - on the toilet. (All Private areas safely out of the shot!)

The RATK (que Jaws Theme)

I have to say that I am BOTH looking forward to this room and dreading it. With what I want to do, it'll be a lot of work, painting and pure fun! On the other hand, we have to put everything away - or as much as we can - first. Ugh.

Right now, as you can see, it's a colonel mustard kind of color and it does NOT sit well with my tastes. I am currently thinking Turquoise. Yeah, with yellow and brown accents. Yep...purr.
Junk everywhere...can't make myself throw it out. I NEED IT ALL! lol
So the back....I drew this to share my vision - and also so Honey can see it too. I guess I can't explain it so it sounds logical....or even possible. lol
I want shelves floor to ceiling in a modern, modular kind of way. I want those three cubes to have a small track light where two will point to the bottom of the box....where our rock collection will be, and one to highlight some of the kids' art I've framed. The rest will hold books and knick-knacks. I'm not sure what color the shelves will be. Probably the same honey brown as the molding.

Here, the previous owner have some sort of makeshift closet? I would like to enclose that into two or three sections where one is drawers and shelves, the second would have shelves on the bottom and a small rack to hang things on the top. If we do a third, it would be shelves - but they would all have doors and look like cabinets. We'll see. It's a lofty goal - or as my honey would say, an expensive goal. lol
As a side note, do you like my Blue and Gold Creampuffs that I took to Karate Kids' banquet? He's a Wolf now!

Is it dark in here or is it just me?

Well, we DID IT! We painted our room....BLACK! And, you say?

IT'S AMAZING! LOOOOOOOOOVE IT! We started at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday evening and finished the second coat and wrapped it all up at 9:30. Black, bytheway, is THE EASIEST color we have ever painted. Barely took two coats.

It's not totally done...we still have pictures and such to hang, as well as curtains...which we only seem to remember when the kiddos are asleep. Ugh. The room though, is awesome! I LOVE walking in and I didn't think I would love it this much, but I do!
Didn't my Honey do AMAZING edging? He's amazing too. I taped. I think I like taping more than the average person too. lol

 More to come soon!!

A Little "Me" Space

So I was bound and determined to get my craft room in order. It was in shambles before; just another room to throw things in.

My Honey was very surprised that I used up EVERY SINGLE SHELF AND SPACE for me stuff. Of course I did. DOUBT THEE NOT! I knew it, I saw it, I cleaned it.....I did it!

Now? It's MY place. Almost. It's missing something and I can't quite figure out what that is. Can you?

Back to Normal? Whatever that is....

Well, it's been two REALLY fast weeks since I've posted...and that's no surprise as I haven't worked on the house! lol I've got a dual focus right now....although Honey doesn't totally love the idea. lol

My parents are visiting in April so I'd really like to finish the room above the stairs...As you can see, it needs a little help....I mean a lot of help. But, I have nowhere to put the stuff. Honey thinks we should just shove it in the attic and I said "NO!" We really need to stay on a good foot with this house and put. things. away.

So, my inspiration for the room above the kitchen or the RATK! lol

I would love three big cubbies with track lighting to highlight the kids' artwork and our ROCK COLLECTION! lol I'm kind of thinking like this....

The other room we're going to work on is our room! YES! It's going to be....BLACK! lol People don't believe me, but look at some of these rooms!

I think they look amazing. We're accenting with red too!!!  Right now it's a sage color, which isn't terrible, it just isn't me! lol It's a mess. Our dumping ground.
Totally do-able right!? RIGHT!!! Go Team! Break!
