Pimp My Porch!

Well, this year we had decided that we needed to repaint the porch. It's a long story but I'll try to make it short. When we bought the house, we saw that the previous owner had painted it. A sad but true story.
Before Honey got drill happy.
Honey had thought it would be easier to take off the bottom boards to sand and paint, and I agreed. Then, he suggested taking off all of the boards....and then the top rail...and then all of the railing. So, when we went to Sherwin Williams, the guy gave us a remover.....as stain remover. Needless to say, halfway through applying it and noticing that it did no !@($*&!(@$* good, we realized the mistake. NICE! So, we ended up putting on some other stuff to neutralize it and power washed the deck like crazy!
A lot of the paint came up, but then we were informed that it was going to snow. Yeah, snow. WHAT!? We can't paint a porch in the SNOW! That made us stress and make a mad dash to paint the deck as fast as possible. We made it, but now honey just read that we should put the top coat on within 14 days.......well that ain't gonna happen.
Looks like we're missing half of the deck!

All But Forgotten!

So it's been a while since I have posted. My mother actually reminded me I had a blog! Thanks mom! And? We've been greatly blessed!

Remember our laundry room? Nice bright orange?

Well, we got cabinets! YEAH! Friends of ours were redoing their kitchen and were going to toss these and my Honey said we would take them. Guess how much they wanted? $0!!!!!!!! We can totally afford that. SOLD!
I know they give off a sort of 70's vibe, and it's not over yet! I have a huge ornate flower frame that will cap the 70's look quite nicely. lol I should get a macrame hanger and put a plant in there. Don'tcha think?

I guess it's not as bad as having this awesome $5 find my Honey scored. It still has the original tag on the bottom....yup! 1969! lol HAHAHAHAHA
What can I say? We're eclectic! lol

I already know I'm crazy......

So I have had these ideas floating around in my head for a LONG, LONG time! And? I think I am going to try and tackle...at least one.

The first? The toilet paper roll mum.

I have already started...it's a baby mum currently hanging on my wall. I plan on getting some spray paint and finishing it today....that's hopeful.

The second... The nail and string letters....Not sure what I want to spell, and I would love to have the wall painted first... so this might be lower on the totem pole.

Third, the yarn balls. I want them. I will make them....someday.

Last, this awesomeness. It's a cross stitch on your wall! Agh! I have a secret love of damask and have been dreaming of doing a wall upstairs like this....see?

My inspiration!!
A design I found online and colored and tweaked it.

I also planted a few hostas and lilies I bought at Lowes while I was in Marquette! Aren't they lovely!? I envision it FULL of flowers. I just planed a few perennial plants that I started from seed. I will show those pics as soon as you can tell the difference between my plants and the weeds.

I've Been Framed!!!

So, since we don't have the money to do the BIG facelifts that I want to do, I decided to try and find little ones that I could do for free. So, I saw a few pins and posts about painting frames. I have a LOT of frames, so I am painting them every color I have! lol
See?
I haven't been able to put on more coats since after I did this one, it started to get cold and rainy - it even snowed. But today is BEAUTIFUL! So, I will grab my brush and head on out and paint these suckers!

Hopefully I'll be posting a wall full of color soon.

Candy Apple Red!

So, here it is!!! The MUDROOM! (Background jazz band swingin')
It's sexy. It's BOLD. It took FOUR COATS!

What was I thinking!? Painting black really messed me up. It was soooooo easy. Covered almost completely in just the first coat and then to red. Bright red. Four coats. Ugh. Honey was NOT happy by the end. Actually, I painted the last coat since he was DONE. I also plan on doing the front entryway too! Why you ask? Here's some tips and reasons for wanting a red room from RealSimple and Apartment Therapy. They seem to fit! lol

After!!! AMAZING! lol
Before....ugh.

After! With a RED baby too!
What do you think!? I can't wait to show you the curtains!!!

Before Pics and a Peep Show!!

So, I can not sit still apparently. I HAVE to be doing something, so I convinced Honey to work on another room. Here's our mudroom....before. It's like this light, pastel blue. Many a person may like it. Not me.Like my Honey says....We are BOLD people.

So.... Do you know what color we (we means "I") chose?

Here's a sneak peek....a peep show of sorts.

Stay tuned for more!

The RATK (que Jaws Theme)

I have to say that I am BOTH looking forward to this room and dreading it. With what I want to do, it'll be a lot of work, painting and pure fun! On the other hand, we have to put everything away - or as much as we can - first. Ugh.

Right now, as you can see, it's a colonel mustard kind of color and it does NOT sit well with my tastes. I am currently thinking Turquoise. Yeah, with yellow and brown accents. Yep...purr.
Junk everywhere...can't make myself throw it out. I NEED IT ALL! lol
So the back....I drew this to share my vision - and also so Honey can see it too. I guess I can't explain it so it sounds logical....or even possible. lol
I want shelves floor to ceiling in a modern, modular kind of way. I want those three cubes to have a small track light where two will point to the bottom of the box....where our rock collection will be, and one to highlight some of the kids' art I've framed. The rest will hold books and knick-knacks. I'm not sure what color the shelves will be. Probably the same honey brown as the molding.

Here, the previous owner have some sort of makeshift closet? I would like to enclose that into two or three sections where one is drawers and shelves, the second would have shelves on the bottom and a small rack to hang things on the top. If we do a third, it would be shelves - but they would all have doors and look like cabinets. We'll see. It's a lofty goal - or as my honey would say, an expensive goal. lol
As a side note, do you like my Blue and Gold Creampuffs that I took to Karate Kids' banquet? He's a Wolf now!

Is it dark in here or is it just me?

Well, we DID IT! We painted our room....BLACK! And, you say?

IT'S AMAZING! LOOOOOOOOOVE IT! We started at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday evening and finished the second coat and wrapped it all up at 9:30. Black, bytheway, is THE EASIEST color we have ever painted. Barely took two coats.

It's not totally done...we still have pictures and such to hang, as well as curtains...which we only seem to remember when the kiddos are asleep. Ugh. The room though, is awesome! I LOVE walking in and I didn't think I would love it this much, but I do!
Didn't my Honey do AMAZING edging? He's amazing too. I taped. I think I like taping more than the average person too. lol

 More to come soon!!
