Tale of Eureka

Today is a good day. I decided to post twice today. I want to tell you a little story.

Once upon a time, there was a little woman. This little woman cooked and cleaned for her handsome, young husband who worked hard for their little family. Now this little woman had to use all sorts of tools to clean house, like the vacuum. The vacuum she used was bought second hand five years ago. It clogged often, it didn't adjust to the carpet type anymore and the latch had broken so it didn't stay up by itself. She used this vacuum to clean their modest home and made it work as best as she could. One day, they decided to buy a castle in the next town. This castle had fireplaces in every room!!! Oh the heat!!! So they loaded up their cart with their belongings and away they went. Now that they were in a new home, the little woman pleaded with her husband to buy her a new vacuum. Such a home deserves to be cleaned with a NEW vacuum. But, alas, he was to hear nothing of it. It would be too much money and they had other things to buy. "Besides", he had said, "This one works just fine." So the little woman sighed and dreamed of a vacuum that never lost suction.

Once all of their things were unloaded, they had to travel back to their old home to clean it for the next tenants. The little woman had all of her tools, including the vacuum. Six hours they toiled and scrubbed to make the house sparkle more than it had when they moved in themselves! Finally, with sweat on their brow, they began loading their cart with the last bit of things they had used to clean. The strapping you husband took the vacuum and decided to use it to vacuum up some dirt that had spilled. The little woman thought nothing of it as they had just used it to clean the house when all of the sudden a curse erupts from the room where her dear husband was cleaning. He had broken the vacuum.

The little woman was delighted as she knew they would HAVE to get a new vacuum and her husband reluctantly agreed. So, that next work day, the little woman and her handsome husband take a trip to the local market where they sold vacuums of every size and shape. So many different types that the little woman had a hard time choosing. Which to choose, she thought!? She asked her dear husband his opinion and he decided on this one.

Throwing it into their wagon, they headed home and the little woman was able to clean her floors so they were worthy of her new castle home.

 The End

Thanks Honey, for breakin' the vacuum. Love forever. : P

My Vision: Part 1 - The Kids' Rooms

I love color. For those of you who know me, that is no secret. I have dreamed....always, I think... of having a home with rooms of every different color. So, I approached my dear, sweet husband with this request and he said, "SURE!" lol So I thought I would share with you my VISION for this house. It'll be in multiple parts as "I'm crazy" and want to accomplish so much! lol

The first rooms I plan on completing are the kids' rooms. Karate Kid has chosen "Nautical Blue." Here's my inspiration board. (I love inspiration boards!)
The blue looks more blue on the paint chip.
Here's Little Miss' inspiration board. Little Miss shares a room with Chickie so it works out well.

This week will be relatively quiet. Maybe I can even paint one of the rooms today.... hmmm.

Took a break today and went to Pinewood Derby for Karate Kid. It was lots of fun, even though he didn't win anything.

The Thing!

When we purchased our home, it didn't have a stove, a dryer and a refrigerator. So, we decided we would buy a new fridge and get the other two off of craigslist. Having that decided, away we went to scout out our new fridge. We went to Sears, Kirkish, and online. So many choices! French doors. bottom freezer, top freezer, NO freezer, ice maker, water dispenser, 5 shelves, 4 shelves, white, black, stainless steel.....ugh. I think I was burnt out at our first stop!

My Honey insisted on black. He wanted black appliances...it's cool or something. Anyways, so that narrowed it down to 1/2 a million choices. Also, he wanted a freezer - which is something we had missed in our previous house since we only had a GIANT fridge and our little deep freezer. Next, it "HAD" to have a water dispenser and an ice maker. (Wow, Honey had a list!) Not only that, it had to be a certain size too. He didn't want a small fridge.

Well, we had to wait until we actually HAD the house to purchase our fridge so we waited. The time came and Honey casually announced one evening that he was stopping by Sears on the way home from work to look and he'll call me if he finds a good deal. Ok. Got it. He'll call. 30 minutes later? No call. Ok, he didn't find anything worth-wile. A little bit later, I get a call! "Hey, I kind of bought the fridge." WHAT!? WHAT HAPPENED TO "I'LL CALL"????

 Breathe.

"That's great honey! Did you take a picture?"

"Oh, um no. But you can look it up online!"

 What? I don't even get a picture!?

"Ok, are you on your way home?"

"Yep! See ya soon"

And that's how Honey bought our fridge. Little did I know how it would be.

Here's the space for the fridge. Not a whole lot of room, but then again, I wasn't worried.

Then, the day comes when it is to be delivered. They BARELY get it through our door  - and that is with the doors OFF! It was actually quite hilarious as they cursed the people who designed the fridge saying, "Who designed this thing?!" (person 2) "Someone who didn't have to take it apart and put it back together" (person 1).

It's shiny!!

Honey now has his water dispenser... of course the house isn't set up for such a fridge, but I know he'll be taking care of that soon.

So much space!!!!
Yeah for the fridge. To be honest, I am glad I don't have to go out on our porch and dig through our coolers for the jelly. It's nice. I shouldn't complain so .......Hooray for the fridge.

Garden of Boxes

Now, in the middle of winter, it seems the only things growing around here are boxes. Before we "moved" in, we seemed to have a pretty good handle on the junk. But now? I can't walk into a room without running into something made of cardboard. For example, the dining area.

But that's the way moving goes. Slowly....ever so slowly, it's coming along. Other fun things have happened too! Like Tevin getting home an hour later than normal because the bus driver forgot to stop for him. Nice. Poor kid was close to tears when he got off. I had called the school... hoping THEY knew where my kid was.

Good news! My Honey was able to fix our dryer! It was originally set up for propane gas, so he got the parts and now it works for our Natural Gas! What a stud!!
So now, my clothes don't look like this!

I'll leave you with this awesome shot that Karate Kid and I did with my new camera my parents bought for me this Christmas!

Owl Baby Shower!

This was a simple shower I did for a friend. My palette was green, purple and turquoise!

Brand New Year....and House!!

Well, I had planned on starting my own business and everything and then.... we decided to buy a house. So, needless to say, my business ideas were put on hold. We looked at a bunch of houses, both online and walking through and only ONE called our name.

This is our house.

It's in great shape and previous owners had done a lot of work! The biggest joy to us was the fact that there was NO PLASTER & LATH walls! YEAH! I never thought I would love sheet rock so much.

Now, my attention is focused on changing this into as close to our dream home as possible. I'm even dreaming about room colors! I'll post pictures of the rooms and my ideas for each one.
